112 Emergency Contact Number

As I prepare and plan for my photographic trips next year I always invest a lot of time into researching locations, getting maps and since this is the first time I will be heading out into remote areas I need to think of safety and supplies.

I found the following info from the Australian Government website (www.telinfo.gov.au) regarding an emergency contact number that uses the GSM network when you dial it from your mobile phone, so you might have no signal to make a normal phone call but there might be GSM coverage that your mobile will pick up when you dial 112. This number can even be dialed when the phone phone key pad is locked, just like 000.

So if your stranded and running out of contact options then remember 112.

As always a good travel plan and letting people know where your are going and when you should be back is also a critical part of your trip planning.

Blue Mountains Weekends Course

I am currently putting together a full weekend course to be run in the amazing Blue Mountains. The course will give people the opportunity to really cut their teeth into the world of landscape photography. The Blue Mountains area offers so many interesting and diverse locations to shoot at no matter what the weather conditions are like.

The course will include transport, accommodation and all meals, so all you need to bring is your camera. I am hoping to have dates for the first course out early next year and the price will also be announced then as well.

The course will cater for all types of photographers and skill levels.

Any questions please post them here or send me a personal email via my website.

Happy Shooting

Welcome Note

Hi and welcome to my blog and my first blog entry...

My aim in setting up this blog is to give visitors and course students both past and future a look into the world of landscape photography and a behind the scene experience into what we go through to create these stunning images.

I will be posting images and detailed descriptions on how they were taken, along with any other interesting tips and tricks that I come up with.

My rough shooting outline for 2008 is:
Wilson's Promontory, Victoria
Flinders Rangers, South Australia
Whitsunday Islands, Queensland
Northern and Central, New South Wales
Alpine Victoria
and The Red Center (Ayres Rock etc)

From each trip I will post additional behind the scenes photographs and experiences encountered along the way.
